Welcome to Ela & David, a Franco-Polish couple who travelled the world and finally decided to settle down near the village of Barczewo in the lake region of Varmia.
Their lodging lies in the heart of the forest, in a beautiful house that they have just renovated to welcome visitors in one of their 4 guest rooms and a small 30 m2 house.
The 4 rooms, 20 m2 to 40 m2 in size, are spread over the estate and its outbuildings and bear the names of trees or plants: “Quercus-chêne”, “Betula – birch”, “Prunus – cherry tree” and “Vitis-vigne”. All are equipped with a private bathroom and terrace or balcony.
Their offer includes breakfast and dinner (€20 to be added to the price of the night for 2 persons, to be paid on the spot), served in the summer kitchen, around a large shared table. The fresh produce comes mainly from their large 300 m2 organic vegetable garden.
They look forward to helping you discover their corner of paradise and sharing their values and their passion for sustainable tourism.
Strongly inspired by the permaculture approach, David and Ela wish to create “more with less” and make good use of natural and locally available resources. Through the good practices they implement on a daily basis, they wish to play a leading role in ecotourism in Poland.
– Zero waste
Implementation of processes and above all measurement of the quantity of waste produced. One of the best ways to reduce them in the long term.
– Grain library
Seeds are life… David and Ela are committed to growing vegetables from “free, ecological and reproducible seeds”. They also plan to initiate a seed library by 2021/2022. Their seeds will be available for sharing and exchange on their territory.
– “Abundant forest “
One of the principles of permaculture is abundance. They wish to develop a forest full of perennial species (fruits, vegetables, condiments) on the estate. The aim is to join forces with nature to cultivate what is consumed.
The guest rooms are located in the heart of a 3-hectare estate, designed for relaxation or leisure activities: boat trips on the pond, fishing… Bicycles are available to explore the surroundings.
The region of Varmia is not the best known region in Poland, often compared to its neighbour Mazuria, but it has many assets. The region is dotted with lakes and forests and has many charming villages, where traditions are still alive.
The surroundings of the B&B offer many possibilities for excursions: castles, small typical villages, wild forests. The town of Olsztyn, 15 km away, is the economic and cultural centre of the region, which is a must to discover, especially in summer.
The Wadag lake, a source of pure water of 494 ha, is easily accessible from the guest house. It is 20 minutes (3-6 km) by bike from the village of Barczewko and offers wonderful canoe trips.
