Rental description
Come and stay at the gîte specially arranged by Mireille, a lover of nature as well as a noted artist, whose works bring together natural materials, colour and emotion. She and her three well-trained dogs (Mireille is also a dog-trainer) greet the visitors. The property spreads over 9 hectares (22 acres) of land, a perfect setting for the gîte, which is completely autonomous in energy and water.
The house has a large bay window that opens onto a terrace with a stunning view of the Mediterranean scrubland that stretches all the way to the sea! It stands next to a patio courtyard which connects the two B&B rooms to the main house. It has all the amenities needed to spend a good vacation: satellite TV and Wi-Fi, washing machine, dishwasher, small oven, gas stove and a beautiful shower room.
Sustainability criteria
The house was built in 2014 exclusively out of natural materials such as wood, clay, straw, hemp, cotton or wool. The gîte is autonomous and totally off the grid. Electricity is generated by 37sqm of solar panels, and hot water by a solar kit including 3 vertical collectors, a 300-litre tank, and a thermal probe. Drinkable water comes from a 363m (1191-foot) deep borehole (below sea level), and heating from a gas heat recovery unit.
The main house has a 14KW wood stove. Water on the property is treated on the spot through the owner’s septic tank, filter tanks and drainage. Windows have triple glazing.
Mireille is very committed to keeping her domain as unspoilt as possible. As a member of the Bird Protection League (LPO), she formed the project together with ornithologists to turn her property into a bird sanctuary by sheltering endangered species.
