Sustainability criteria

David and Jinsy have worked with the Welsh Assembly Government environmental scheme for many years. As an example of their initiatives, much of the furniture has been made by the owners themselves using timber harvested from the sustainably-managed woodlands on the farm. Most of it , along with fuel for the several wood-burning stoves on the estate, has been made from their own trees that were harvested, processed & made into beds etc. by ourselves. No wood-miles, just wood-metres!

This, in turn, ensures a suitable habitats for a large variety of species such badgers, foxes, rabbits, bats, owls, buzzards as well as otters, herons, kingfishers, trout, sewin & salmon by the river. Red deer and red kites are also often seen in the locality. The hosts invite their guests to walk through the fields & woods & to see the day-to-day work of a traditional dairy farm.

The water supply for the farm & cottage comes from pure natural springs on the farm and is tested annually. There is no mains water. In addition, All the beds are made up with organic wool duvets & two pillows per person. Welsh wool blankets are also supplied.
