Rental description
Anne Sophie’s eco-hotel is located in the capital’s city centre and its friendly, lively and environmentally engaged staff will make for a holiday of respite. The hotel has been recognized and rewarded not only for its eco-friendly standards, but also its social projects.
Each room, whether single, double or 3-bed, boasts the same facilities, including a flatscreen TV, WiFi-access, a desk and armchair. The hotel reserves adjacent rooms for large families and parties. While all rooms contain heaters for the convenience of guests, the hotel has been built so as to provide some natural insulation against weather conditions. Anne-Sophie has also excluded carpets for the benefit of guests with allergies. Bathrooms come with a hairdryer.
Enjoy a drink or a book at the bar and lounge, equipped with power outlets and WiFi access. Sophie also has some books stacked on a shelf and some board games to make sure everyone has something fun to do. The breakfast buffet is French (obviously), the food is largely organic and homemade, and has something to offer gluten-intolerent guests. Try the freshly squeezed orange juice – homemade and home-grown.
Need some tips on what to see in Paris? The staff will be happy to answer any questions and assist with any requests. Anne-Sophie encourages guests to mingle with each other, there are plenty of laughs to be had and maybe some bits of information that may come in handy before you know it.
Sustainability criteria
The eco-hotel sees itself as a conscious participant in socio-economics and practices a zero waste policy. Its management supports the economically disadvantaged in the local area, offering them employment or purchasing their unused or broken items to recycle/restore as furniture (occupational integration). The staff is trained in running an eco-friendly accommodation and partners are chosen for their own sustainable activity. As a result, the city of Paris supports the hotel for its social entrepreneurship and the lodging has received the *_Clef Verte_ Award *(Green Key) in recognition for its outstanding engagement.
Some of its sustainability measures include offering organic breakfast made from local produce, separating waste and using biodegradable cleaning products, and doing all washing on the estate. During renovations, furniture was recycled or bought second-hand and rooms were made to face East to combat stuffiness on hot days. The staff asks guests to only hand in linens when they feel washing is necessary to conserve water.
