Nadia opens the doors to her green hotel, located in the quiet rural village of Méréville on the Moselle River . Her’s is the first to obtain the “green key” eco-label in the Lorraine Region, receiving the prestigious certification in 2003. To relax and re-energize yourself, enjoy the comfort of a heated swimming-pool (from May to October), rent bicycles or challenge your friends to a game of pétanque! Also listed as a “fishing lodge”, the hotel can provide fishing cards so that hosts may be introduced to that activity at one of the many fishponds in the region – the same ponds which, during WWII, were part of the water Maginot Line.
You’ll check-in into one of 26 bright and spacious rooms, most include a private terrace with a view of the garden and swimming-pool. Four of the rooms face the lovely fir-tree grove while two rooms were also entirely redesigned so as to be easily accessible to people with limited mobility.
The restaurant’s flowery décor is perfectly attuned to the lapping Moselle waters downhill. Try taste regional specialties, the home of quiche Lorraine as well as liqueurs and pastries prepared with local Mirabelle plums.
Nadia and her team believe in acting together to conserving the planet’s resources and has managed to obtain the European Ecolabel which sets a high bar for both quality and sustainable tourism. The beautiful outdoor spaces are preserved by natural means, without pesticides, and flowers are watered by collected rain. Light-bulbs use very little energy, and it goes without saying that taps are equipped with water savers!
